Our aim is to develop different aspects of their personality, so that they can be good citizens self dependant for which following additional programmes, activities and training courses have been started :-
(a) Kamakhya Sangeet Niketan for music and dance
(b) For vocational Training :i) Handicraft Education Society for teaching Tailoring, embroidery, knitting etc.
(ii) Farming, Pisciculture, Dairy Farming Computer Operation etc
(c) Bratachari, Yoga & Exercise Institute
(d) Library
Selection of candidates :
As the Ashram has become very popular, people come from various places with application for such children. We send our own people to verify the situation .
We have fixed following criteria for a child to be called orphan :
i) No parents at all or either father or mother is not there to support
(ii) No hutment to stay.
(iii) approval of the panchayat .
(iv) monthly income of the family below Rs.500/- (Rs.five hundred)
It is interesting to note that one of the first batch of inmates was a 10 days old boy found abandoned by a rikshaw puller. He brought him to Ashram where he was looked after with care, love and affection. Today he is a 10 years old active and lively boy.
